Three weeks ago, my friend Joe lost his father to a long battle with cancer. Earlier this week, Joe’s mother got in a fatal car accident which resulted in her death. Joe is a senior in high school and most of his money was already going towards paying bills for his family. Unfortunately, now he has no more close family and has the responsibility of paying for the funerals for both of his parents.
I know most of you probably won’t be able to help, but I knew it couldn’t hurt to spread the word. My school and community are trying to come together to raise money to help him out with the funeral expenses.
If there is any chance you are able to make any sort of financial donation to helping him out, please contact me on my personal blog for more information. Something like a $10-20 donation could help tremendously, but please remember that even the smallest amounts (even $1 if that’s all you can do) will be greatly appreciated.
Even if you can’t donate money, it would be wonderful if you could spread the word. Prayers and positive vibes sent his way could also be a great help. This is a tragic thing for someone at his age to be going through. Please do anything you can to help whether it’s donations, spreading the word, or prayers for him.

The odds of being attacked by a shark in the US are 1 in 11,500,000, but no one gets mad at people who want to avoid the ocean.

The odds of a woman being sexually assaulted in her lifetime are 1 in 6, but if she doesn’t feel safe around strange men she’s a stereotyping bitch.

Strange old world we live in.

Fun Fact:
The fall was not scripted, Anne actually slipped while filming, although she started laughing they kept with the scene. The director didn’t yell cut because she waved her hand a little (what looked like when she waved at Lily to keep talking) to signal that she wanted to keep filming the shot. The editor eventually chose this shot because he felt it fit Mia’s character a lot more than the scripted shots they had.

how did she not start crying after getting cunt punted that hard.

I think we can all just agree that dragons are pretty cool…
But dragon designs in film and on television are so vanilla. Look! Look at what we could have!

Binti Jua is a western lowland gorilla female in the Brookfield Zoo, in Brookfield, Illinois. Binti is most well known for an incident which occurred on August 16, 1996, when she was eight years old.
A three-year old boy climbed the wall around her zoo enclosure and fell 18 feet onto concrete below, rendering him unconscious with a broken hand and a vicious gash on the side of his face.
Binti walked to the boy’s side while helpless spectators screamed, certain the gorilla would harm the child. Another larger female gorilla approached, and Binti growled.
Binti picked up the child, cradling him with her right arm as she did her own infant, gave him a few pats on the back, and carried him 18 meters (59 ft) to an access entrance, so that zoo personnel could retrieve him. Her 17-month-old baby, Koola, clutched her back throughout the incident. The boy spent four days in the hospital and recovered fully.

My cousin Helen, who is in her 90s now, was in the Warsaw ghetto during World War II. She and a bunch of the girls in the ghetto had to do sewing each day. And if you were found with a book, it was an automatic death penalty. She had gotten hold of a copy of ‘Gone With the Wind’, and she would take three or four hours out of her sleeping time each night to read. And then, during the hour or so when they were sewing the next day, she would tell them all the story. These girls were risking certain death for a story. And when she told me that story herself, it actually made what I do feel more important. Because giving people stories is not a luxury. It’s actually one of the things that you live and die for.  Neil Gaiman (via jaynestown)

friendly reminder that when oliver wood addressed the gryffindor quidditch team as ‘men’, angelina johnson called him out on his sexist and misogynistic bullshit by reminding him there were women on the team too, and he listened to her without question ✿◕‿◕✿
